Will This Year Be Different?

By the time you read this, you probably might have started getting messages from people wishing you a happy new year.

Whatsapp forwards, virtual smiles and hugs and hearts.

You might also make resolutions and have new hopes for the new year. Hoping you will start something new, take better care of your health, of friends or loved ones or explore a different side of yourself.

All that is great. But over the years, I have learnt something about people. Over 90% of the resolutions made fizzle out.

Someone wants to exercise or practice Yoga or join the gym, they do it barely for a few weeks and give up.

Someone else wants to lose weight and decide to avoid eating out – they barely last a few weeks or a month at most. Then things go back to the way they were.

Someone else wants to quit smoking or drinking. But they just can’t resist.

Someone wants to overcome anger, anxiety and stress – but still they keep struggling.

Someone else wants to travel, learn a new language, start a new business – but they almost never do it.

I know this isn’t what you want to read on New Year. You want to hear only the good things. The good wishes. But then I truly want you to change, and to really bring about change – I have to be the bad guy. I have to tell the truth. I have to put up a mirror that shows you the harsh reality – only so that you can change.

I truly want to be able to help you understand why you keep going back to doing things – you know deep down you shouldn’t.

It’s because most people have gotten stuck in old patterns. Old habits have been ingrained so deep – they are resistant to change.

It is more comfortable to suffer the known, than explore something new and unknown.

And as people become older, the old patterns become deeper and deeper.

But let me tell you – it is possible to change. I have radically changed many things in my own life and shared this gift with people all over – watching them change.

All you need to do is be open to change and deep down know it will happen.

And then form new habits. It’s like formatting your phone and installing new software.

One way to start is meditate regularly. If you can meditate everyday, for the next 100 days.

You build up your ability to focus persistently and like any muscle  - the more you use it, the stronger it becomes.

I am saying 100, because then the habit will become deeply ingrained in you. And then simply continue it.

Once you learn this, you can apply to every area of your life. You will be amazed the benefits that will come in other areas.

I’m sharing Happionaire’s Open Meditation Experience (HOME) as a gift with all of you.

This is a guided meditation, you can try it with an open mind. It will help you connect at a deeper level and discover whatever you have been searching is already within you.

Wishing you a very happy new year. Every moment is new. Cherish it and open your heart and soul to the wonders of this beautiful Universe.

Everything is possible. Everything you dream can be achieved. Trust me on that.

Lots of love, gratitude and blessings,

Yogesh Chabria
